I’ve just come back from New York and I was delighted by the glamour and stylish elegance of Art Deco elements found in buildings, inside and outside! I love the glamourous, eclectic and bold style of American architecture, interior design and decor that you find in the metropolis.
Glamourous, eclectic and bold
I’ve been inspired to collect images that show the glamourous, eclectic and bold style that to me is so American, so 30’s Hollywood, so full of life and fun and unashamedly luxuriant. To surround yourself with gold, brass, crystal, velvet, fur, bold patterns, bold colours, vintage objects, and rich textures…… can’t but make you feel like a film star. To recreate this look, you don’t have to rob a bank, it is quite possible to find beautiful decorative items that, when combined, give that feeling of vintage glamour. Get yourself a bold patterned wallpaper and cushions, combine this with fleamarket furniture, maybe add some elegant metal vases, old picture frames, mirrors (this style asks for many a mirrored surface). Be generous with soft textures, and gold and brass.
Here are some examples of interiors and decoration that show this American glamourous, eclectic and bold style. And to show it isn’t that hard to create yourself, I’ve also added some items that are found in shops and webshops, which can help you to create this rich and indulgent style for yourself! A great place to get more inspiration and ideas for this look is at Jonathan Adler, whose philosophy says it all! “Build a timelessly chic foundation, then accessorize with abandon.”
